Makaila's Wish

 

I am an 11-year old suffering from a rare genetic disease called Ehlers Danlos type VI. She uses her wheel chair and scooter to get around to make her life easier when I cannot walk because my leg is healing from bleeds or leg pseudoaneurysm(s).

 

I cannot play like other kids my age so I do other things like crafts, play doctor, draw, paint, and cook with my Mom.

 

My cousins just moved out of state and I miss all 9 of my cousins plus their dog named Izzy. I miss them so much.  

 

My favorite thing to do is swim because that is where I feel free and the water helps me move easily.  I am also learning how to build a website with my Nana and my Nana will be teaching me to sew. 

 

It is hard to watch other children my age play and run around the block. I sometimes feel happy and then sad.

 

I love to play video games with my Dad. I like to play games with my Grandma and I love to help her cook. I love to talk and text with my Mamaw. I also like to help my Mamaw work on Ebay. 

 

My mom is always there and supports me when I have to go into the hospital. She never leaves my side. She tells me that I am her Hero. 

 

I also love my sisters we like to hang out and just have fun. My sisters are there for me and support me during tough times. My dog, Abbie and she loves to sleep with me and keeps me company.

 

I focus on what I can do and not what I cannot do. I want to someday grow up to be a Nurse or a Ultra Sound Technician.  I want to do this because I see how the nurses and ultra sound technicians help me while I am in the hospital and out of the hospital.

 

It's really hard when I have to go into the hospital. I had to go tthe the hospital just before Thanksgiving just because I was trying on several pairs of boots. This really upset me alot; but, my Mom is super great and knew this really was hard on me. So she had one of my friends come over and we made doll hangers.

 

The picture is on the right side of this page. Mom so proud of me she said they turned out beautiful. My Grandma, Mamaw, and my Nana loved them too. It made me feel better and each time someone purchases one it helps the non profit agency "SpecialSpacesColumbus.org"   that helped me get a brand new room make over. 

 

I love my room now it's my private island away from the world it helps me forgot about my disease and helps me enjoy life and just be me!
